English Version of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ To Be Released This Year

The official trailer for David Fincher‘s version of the first instalment to the film adaptations of the ‘Millennium’ series, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has recently been released, confirming Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander.

The Millennium trilogy is a series of bestselling novels by Swedish author Stieg Larsson, The Girl with the Dragon TattooThe Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest – which were first published between 2005 and 2007. The novels follow investigative journalist Blomkvist, who is asked to help uncover the truth about a woman who has been missing for forty years. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own dysfunctional family. This is where Blomkvist meets Salander, a young female hacker, as we start to discover the disturbing truth about her past as well.

The Swedish adaptations of the novels were directed by Niels Arden Oplev and produced by the Swedish film production company Yellow Bird, which were all released in 2009 originally staring Michael Nyqvist as Blomkvist and Noomi Rapace as Salander.

The American adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be released on 26th December 2011.

Noomi Rapace is also set to be staring in the latest Sherlock Holmes film, A Game of Shadows, alongside Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and an appearance from Stephen Fry, which is currently still in production and set to be released in UK cinemas later this year.
