Watch All of ‘Being Human’ and Meet The New Character

With Aidan Turner‘s provocative vampire character, Mitchell, turning to dust at the end of the latest UK series of Being Human, a new member of the undead is set to take his place in series four, whilst the second series of the US adaptation is currently in production.

Being Human originated in Britain on BBC Three and is written and created by Toby Whithouse. First airing in 2008, this supernatural drama has so far had three series, and has since been picked up for a North American remake which aired in January this year and broadcast on Syfy in the US and SPACE in Canada.

Irishman Damien Molony has been named as Turner’s successor for the UK, with the death of his character, Mitchell, ending series three. Molony will be joining werewolves George and Nina and Annie the ghost as an English vampire named Hal. Fresh out of drama school, he is described as, “Very, very posh. Very upper class. A stiff upper-lipped Brit,” by a BBC3 spokesperson.

“The central premise of Being Human has always been that there is a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost living together, so we needed a new vampire,” he commented.

Molony also reassured Mitchell fans that his character is not a replacement: “Hal’s not Mitchell 2. There’s a lot of back story to play with and I assure you he’s very, very different.”

The UK cast of Being Human also includes Lenora Crichlow, Russell Tovey, and Sinead Keenan, and is set in Wales. The US adaptation is set in Boston, and stars Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath, Sam Huntington, and Mark Pellegrino.

Filming on series four for the UK is taking place now and is set to air in early 2012, with the second series for the US version now underway too.
