Scottish actor Ewan McGregor has apparently signed up for his first regular TV role, starring in HBO’s The Corrections which will be adapted from Jonathan Franzen‘s critically acclaimed novel about a highly dysfunctional family.
McGregor has been cast as middle child Chip for the series, which is currently in its pilot stages. He was set to star alongside fellow Brit Sir Anthony Hopkins who had originally been offered the role of the head of the family, but Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest have now been cast as the parents.
The award-winning book spans three decades as the family reflect on the highs and lows of their lives together as they gather for one last Christmas together, when the head of the family reveals he is losing his mind to dementia.
Although McGregor appeared in an episode of ER, this would be his first regular appearance in a TV show, which the strong casting has already prompted speculation to become a priority project for HBO. As soon as we have more details we will let you know.
