8 New Clips For Steven Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’

(Written for BritScene)

There have been eight new clips for Steven Spielberg’s war-time drama, War Horse, released online this week.

Last week we showed you a featurette highlighting the British cast, but these new clips show the actors in their characters, with a focus on Albert, played by Jeremy Irvine (TV’s Life Bites) and his mother, played by Emily Watson (Oranges & Sunshine).

Set during World War I, War Horse is the compelling tale of loyalty, friendship, hope and tenacity filmed in the English countryside. The film tells the story of a young boy named Albert, who, despite being too young to enlist in to the cavalry, heads to France when his horse is sold and sent into the trenches. Along the way, Albert changes and inspires the lives of many of the people he meets.

The film is based on both a successful children’s novel, written by Michael Morpurgo and first published in the UK in 1982, and also on a 2007 stage adaptation which is arriving on Broadway next year. This epic adaptation has since turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit, and is heading into Oscar season with a highly acclaimed view, especially after the National Board of review named War Horse one of the best 10 films of the year.

Alongside Irvine in the movie are fellow Brits Tom Hiddleston (Thor) as Captain Nichols, Benedict Cumberbatch (TV’s Sherlock) as Major Stewart, David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Johnny Harris (London to Brighton) and Peter Mullan (Tyrannosaur), all of who are highlighted in these brand new clips.

You can watch the trailer here, the new clips below, and the film in cinemas from Christmas Day.
