A new teaser trailer and four set pictures for the second season of the WGA Award-nominated HBO fantasy drama, Game of Thrones, have been released this week.
The series first aired in April, and was created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, based on author George R. R. Martinโs best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels. Set in the medieval fantasy world of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and filmed in Northern Ireland, the series chronicles the violent struggles among the kingdomโs noble families for control of the Iron Throne.
The latest video first aired on Sunday night (11th December) and features Stannis Baratheon, played by Stephen Dillane, making his claim to the throne in a voiceover. He says: “My brother left no true-born heirs. By right of birth and blood, I do this day lay claim to the iron throne of Westeros. Let all true men declare their loyalty. The iron throne is mine by right. They will bend on knee or I will destroy them. The cold winds are rising.”
The trailer follows a first-look teaser which was released for the series a couple of weeks ago, which included new footage and commentary by the series writers/executive producers Benioff and Weiss
Game of Thrones will return to HBO in April 2012 and will broadcast on Sky Atlantic when it returns in the UK. You can read about the 23 new British cast members here, and the latest trailer and set pictures can be seen below:
