Watch New Behind-The-Scenes Footage for Season Two of ‘Game of Thrones’

HBO has released a behind-the-scenes video for the second season of the medieval fantasy series, Game of Thrones, this week, which includes commentary by executive producer David Benioff who explains why filming has moved to Belfast in Northern Ireland.

The new clip, which also features Michelle Fairley (Catelyn) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime), follows a first look teaser trailer released earlier this month.

The series, created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, is based on author George R. R. Martin’s best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels. Set in the medieval fantasy world of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, the series chronicles the violent struggles among the kingdom’s noble families for control of the Iron Throne.

Benioff talks mainly about the move of location to Belfast and the unfortunate weather it bring with it, however good it makes filming look. He says: “You really need to believe that you’re in a space that has been there for thousands of years, and you get that with the Irish forest.”

Game of Thrones will return to our television screens via HBO in April 2012 and will broadcast later in the year on Sky Atlantic over in the UK. You can read about the 23 new British cast members here, and the latest featurette below:
