MSN Movies released a new trailer for the British movie Salmon Fishing in The Yemen last week. Whilst it shows much of the same footage from the first trailer, this latest one portrays the film as much funnier and light-hearted, which in turn made me more interested than I originally was to see it.
Starring Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas, Salmon Fishing in The Yemen an adaptation of Paul Torday‘s acclaimed novel of the same, which is directed by Oscar-nominee Lasse Hallström (Chocolat) and written by Oscar-winner Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).
The film follows the attempts of a scientist who hopes to fulfill a sheikh’s dream by bringing the sport of fly-fishing to his homeland. The scientist, however, is told by Britain’s leading fisheries expert that they think the project is unachievable. That’s until the Prime Minister’s press secretary latches on to the idea for its potential as a ‘good will’ story at least. Now this unlikely team will be put to the test as they must embark on an upstream journey to prove the impossible, possible.
Salmon Fishing in The Yemen, which premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, is set to be released on 2nd March, 2012 in a limited run. Here’s the new trailer:
