New Images & First Prequel for The UK Season 4 of ‘Being Human’

(Written for BritScene)

The first images and prequel for Season 4 of the British supernatural drama, Being Human, have been released this week. Set to be released in the UK later this month, there is no official air-date for BBC America as of yet but here’s a sneak peek at what you can look forward to, with a few hints at the plot, plus details of the new faces who will be joining the cast.

Being Human, which was created by Toby Whithouse and first aired in February 2008 on BBC 3 in the UK, focuses on three supernatural beings who share a house together – Aidan Turner as vampire Mitchell, Russell Tovey as werewolf George, and Lenora Crichlow as ghost Annie. Sinead Keenan joined the cast in season two as George’s werewolf girlfriend, and the cast then moved from Bristol to South Wales at the beginning of series three in an attempt to resume their “normal” lives.

The third series ultimately ended with the death of Turner’s provocative vampire, which saw Damien Molony join the cast in October to replace Turner (who left to start filming for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) as “the new head vampire” named Hal.

Leaving Keenan’s werewolf character’s fate hanging in the balance, Russell Tovey then revealed that he was quitting the series too, and that he will be leaving sometime during this fourth series.

So where can it go from here?

The new images, which you can see below, show the new vampire-ghost-werewolf trio of Hal (Damien Molony), Annie (Lenora Crichlow) and Tom (Michael Socha), as George (Russell Tovey) glares from the background and additional cast members Griffin (Alex Griffin), Regus (Mark Williams), and Cutler (Andrew Gower), appear to be minding their own business.

George is looking a little rough, but that’s not surprising seen as though Nina is nowhere to be seen in these new images. I’m sure this is all to be explained pretty early on the series, but until then we will have to leave you guessing.

The new series also sees the return of British actor Craig Roberts (Submarine) as the eternally teenaged vampire Adam, who starred as the lead in the web series Becoming Human, as well as Andrew Gower who has been cast as Cutler, a vampire who will become one of the main characters, and South Wales actor Darren Evans.

The first prequel video from season 4 is set in 1955. Leo is beaten, bloodied and chained up, awaiting his next dog fight. Hal is tormented and angry – confused by Leo, who appears unafraid – as the two men discuss their fate and their future.

Being Human Season 4 is set to be released at the end of January in the UK, and will be available in the US sometime this year on BBC America. Have a look at the new images and Hal’s prequel below:
