(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)
Saoirse Ronan is set to lead Walt Disney’s The Order of the Seven, it has been reported this week.
Formerly titled Snow and the Seven, the film was originally planned to be a re-telling of the fairytale classic Snow White And The Seven Dwarves that, set in 19th Century China, would deal with an English woman who is protected by a band of international warriors.
Set to be directed by Michael Gracey, the basic plot remains the same but the direct reference to Snow White appears to be no longer part of the plan.
I guess that’s a plus seen as though we are already set to see two re-tellings of the Snow White fairy tale this year with Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman and Tarsem Singh’s Mirror Mirror. But still, it is very much remaining as the film’s premise, so we will just have to wait and see.
With no release date yet announced for the film, we will next see Ronan in the vampire tale Byzantium which looks set for a late 2012 release and in an adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s novel The Host which is set to be released on 29th March, 2013.
