‘The Hunger Games’ Pre-Game Special: New IMAX Banner & Character Images

(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)

Lionsgate has released a new IMAX banner for the first film in an adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ best-selling and eagerly awaited trilogy of novels, The Hunger Games, with a set of new character images that have also made their way online this week.

Directed by Gary Ross, the big screen adaptation is set in a post-apocalyptic North America, now named Panem, where teenagers are chosen to battle to the death in annual televised games where only one can survive, an attempt to maintain control by those living in the Capitol in this very dystopian society.

The new banner shows off Jennifer Lawrence as the main character Katniss Everdeen, yielding her best weapon and set to go far in the games.

The new set of images, including that of Lawrence, then introduce us to her fellow cast members, some of whom we’ve only had a glance at in the film’s trailer, with character images for Liam Hemsworth as her friend from home Gale, Josh Hutcherson as fellow District 12 tribute Peeta, Wes Bentley as the Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane, Elizabeth Banks as escort of the District 12 tributes Effie Trinket, Stanley Tucci as interviewer Caesar Flickerman, Alexander Ludwig as opponent Cato, Lenny Kravitz as district 12 stylist Cinna, Isabelle Fuhrman as opponent Clove, Woody Harrelson as mentor Haymitch, Donald Sutherland as President Snow, and Amandla Stenberg as opponent Rue.

The Hunger Games is set to be released on 23rd March both in the UK and the US and, whilst the banner is specifically for IMAX, we can all look forward to seeing the film at our local cinemas in a month’s time.

Here’s a couple of the character images, but to see all 12 of them, follow this link.
