British actor Orlando Bloom is set to lead Jerome Salle‘s crime thriller Zulu, it has been announced this week. Leading alongside Beninese actor Djimon Hounsou, who also was announced to be starring in the film this week, the thriller is based on the novel by French author Caryl Férey.
Not to be confused with the 1964 Michael Caine movie of the same name, Zulu centers on two Cape Town cops (Bloom and Hounsou) who are called in to investigate the murder of Sprikboks’ rugby team player’s 18-year-old daughter.
Hounsou was previously set to play the Angel of Death in the adaptation of Paradise Lost before Legendary Pictures scrapped the picture due to budget concerns, why is why it is presumed that he was available for his role in Zulu.
Bloom, as well, has recently signed up to re-team with Kirsten Dunst in the drama Cities, and we will also see him reprise his role as Legolas at the end of the year Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
