Watch David Tennant, Hugh Grant, Martin Freeman & Imelda Staunton Get Into Character in ‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’

(Written for BritScene)

We gave you a glimpse at one of these videos earlier this week along with three new production videos and a new clip for Aardman Animations’ family adventure The Pirates! Band of Misfits, but now we have four official b-roll videos including performances from British actors David Tennant, Hugh Grant, Martin Freeman, and Imelda Staunton.

Directed by Peter Lord and Jeff Newitt and produced by Aardman Animations (Wallace and Gromit) and Sony Pictures Animation (Arthur Christmas), The Pirates! Band of Misfits is based on the first two of Gideon Defoe’s The Pirates! novels, The Pirates! in an Adventure With Scientists and The Pirates! in an Adventure With Whaling.

The new b-roll videos give a behind-the-scenes look at some of the actors doing their voice over performances, including that of Hugh Grant (Did You Hear About the Morgans?) as the film’s lead, the Pirate Captain, David Tennant (Fright Night) as a young Charles Darwin, Imelda Staunton (Arthur Christmas) as Queen Victoria, and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) as one of the Pirate Captain’s crew.

The clips give a great insight into the production of this stunningly animated film as we see these British actors have a little fun with their characters and director Peter Lord.

Set to be released on 27th April, it looks as if the film will make us laugh as much the actors did making it, as we follow The Pirate Captain on his adventure to beat his rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven – TV’s Entourage) and Cutlass Liz (Salma HayekPuss in Boots) in the Pirate of the Year Award.

Also starring Brendan Gleeson (The Guard), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (The Thing), and Russell Tovey (TV’s UK Being Human), The Pirates! Band Of Misfits, you can see the new b-roll videos below:
