Simon Pegg To Guest Role On Frank Darabont’s ‘L.A. Noir’ Pilot

(Written for BritScene)

British comedy actor Simon Pegg is set to guest star in the pilot of Frank Darabont‘s adaptation of John Buntin‘s epic saga L.A. Noir: The Struggle For The Soul Of America’s Most Seductive City for the cable network TNT, it has been reported this week.

For this “fast-paced period thriller”, Pegg will be joining Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) who will play an ex-Marine-turned-L.A.P.D.-cop who finds himself in the middle of the war between Captain William Parker, played by Neil McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger), and infamous gangster Mickey Cohen. Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) is also on board as Bernthal’s WWII buddy who has returned as an ambitious lawyer working as a “fixer” for the mob.

It’s uncertain as to what role Pegg will be playing as of yet, but the role of a ‘guest star’ usually implies that his appearance will be just a one-off so we’re unsure whether we will see more of him if the series is ultimately picked up.

Starring Pegg in the pilot is sure to attract an audience either way, but he is already busy filming with J.J. Abrams on the Star Trek sequel, and we may even get to see him re-team with Edgar Wright and Nick Frost for The World’s End sometime this year as well, so there’s still much to see from him.

Frank Darabont‘s currently untitled series will be produced by Michael De Luca (The Social Network) and Elliot Webb with Alisa Phillips (Moneyball) co-executive producing. We will let you know more when we can.
