We’ve already had news over the past few weeks that British actor Michael Fassbender is to star in Ronan Bennettas’ Irish Myths and Ridley Scott‘s upcoming drama The Counselor, reports this week confirm that the Shame actor is now in final talks to star in Gerardo Naranjo‘s adaptation of Charles Martin’s romantic drama novel, The Mountain Between Us.
Focusing on two strangers who survive a plan crash in the Colorado woods and are forced to rely on one another for survival, eventually falling in love, Fassbender will play the male half of the stranded pair, a doctor and avid climber who must use his skills to help an injured writer to safety.
Though the film sounds as if it will take the form of a cheesy romance, the combination of Naranjo and Fassbender promises something much deeper. Just like with Fassbender’s latest roles in Steve McQueen‘s Shame, Steven Soderbergh‘s Haywire, David Cronenberg‘s A Dangerous Method, Marvel‘s X-Men: First Class, and the many upcoming films that have we have also been talking about lately, he’s diversity is sure to allow him fit perfectly into his role here too. Now the interesting part is to begin guessing who will play Fassbender’s other half.
Whilst we will next see Fassbender in Ridley Scott‘s Promethetheus on 8th June, he is also set to re-team with Shame director Steve McQueen on the period picture, Twelve Years a Slave, which is believed to start filming this year, and he is being eyed for Daniel Espinosa‘s Yakuza crime film The Outsider as well.
Where does he find the time to sleep? Whether it be about another film that he is set to star in or more confirmations involving one of those mentioned in this post above, we’re sure to hear some more Fassbender-related news sometime soon.
