(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)
Scribe of this year’s superhero sci-fi feature Chronicle is to write the film’s sequel, it has been announced.
Max Landis, writer and director of the short The Death And Return Of Superman last year, is set to write ‘Chronicle 2’ for Fox, after the first instalment grossed more than $105 million at the box office worldwide since its release in early February.
Starring Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell and Michael B. Jordan, Chronicle centres on three high school friends who gain superpowers, but soon find their lives going out of control and friendships tested as they begin to explore their dark sides.
Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have also recently acquired the rights to another of Landis’ films, Amnesty, which he pitched to the company with attached director Ron Howard in January.
Disney have also nabbed the rights to an untitled adventure film from the writer, so we are sure to see a lot more from him before this more recently announced Chronicle sequel. But then again it’s not surprising that he’s done so well from the film.
