Carey Mulligan In Talks to Star in ‘Nancy and Danny’, A Black Comedy From The Director Of ‘Man On Wire’

(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)

Shame and Drive star Carey Mulligan is negotiations this month to star in black comedy thriller Nancy and Danny, which is currently being developed by Indian Paintbrush.

Set in a small town, the project centres on a money-hungry woman (Mulligan) whose big-city dreams failed. In order to land a high school crush, she uses a hapless man as a pawn in a get-rich-quick scheme that quickly goes wrong.

With a script written by Brad Inglesby, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed documentary Man on a Wire, James Marsh, is on board to direct the project, which is said to be in the vein of Gus Van Sant’s 1995 black comedy, To Die For.

Mulligan has had an extremely interesting career so far and I am a big fan of all of her roles. With a great director already on board for this, it would be great to see the two work together so hopefully we will be getting some confirmations on this soon.

Mulligan will next be seen in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby, which has recently had its release date moved from December to summer 2013.
