(Written for Filmoria)
Set to make its North American premiere at TIFF 2015 in a few weeks time, the first trailer for Wim Wenders’ drama Every Thing Will Be Fine has been released this week.
The trailer and the plot synopsis for this are both pretty spoiler-filled since the events of the film are centred around quite a pivotal moment, so if you’d like to know as little as possible, then I’ll just tell you that the film will screen at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival this September, and it certainly looks worth the watch when it finally hits our cinema screens.
Based on an original script by the Norwegian Bjørn Olaf Johannessen, the film stars James Franco in the lead as Tomas, a writer who loses control of his life after a traumatic car accident. Following his life over 12 years after his relationship with his girlfriend breaks down and he succumbs to depression., the film tells Tomas’ story as he attempts to put his life back together and search for forgiveness.
The film also stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Rachel McAdams, and Peter Stormare.
Here’s the official synopsis:
A winter evening. A car on a country road. It’s snowing, visibility is poor. Out of nowhere, a sled comes sliding down a hill. The car comes to a grinding halt. The driver is Tomas, a writer. He cannot be blamed for the tragic accident. It’s also not young Christopher’s fault, who should have taken better care of his brother. Tomas falls into a depression. The film follows Tomas and his efforts to give meaning to his life again. Starring James Franco, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Rachel McAdams.
