100 Films To Look Forward To In 2019

There seems to be a lot of horrors that are still waiting for a UK release date, so it could be a great year for horrors if we finally get to see them this year. For now, I’ve only included these few:

Us (15th March)
Written and directed by Jordan Peele, a mother and father take their kids to their beach house, expecting to enjoy time with friends, but their serenity turns to tension and chaos when some visitors arrive uninvited. The film stars Lupita Nyong’o, Elisabeth Moss, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Evan Alex.

Brightburn (24th May)
Directed by David Yarovesky, the film is a horrific take on the classic superhero trope, as it follows a couple (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman) who adopts a baby who came from the stars. While they attempt to raise the boy (Jackson A. Dunn) to use his powers for good, an evil begins to grow from inside that he unleashes.

The Curse of La Llorona (TBC)
Directed by Michael Chaves, the film is the sixth instalment in The Conjuring Universe. La Llorona, also known as the Weeping Woman, is a female ghost in Mexican folklore who lost her children and causes misfortune to those nearby. As she searches for them, she takes other lost children, making them her own. The film follows a social worker (Linda Cardellini) who has two small children, who ignores the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment and is soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm.

The Witch In The Window (TBC)
Written and directed by Andy Mitton, the film stars Alex Draper, Arija Bareikis, and Charlie Tacker. When Simon (Draper) brings his 12-year-old son, Finn (Tacker), to rural Vermont to help flip an old farmhouse, they encounter the malicious spirit of Lydia, a previous owner. And now with every repair they make, she’s getting stronger.

The Prodigy (TBC)
Directed by Nicholas McCarthy, the film follows a mother (Taylor Schilling) who is concerned about her young son (Jackson Robert Scott)’s disturbing behaviour, as she thinks that something supernatural may be affecting him.
