Book Review: The Mothers by Sarah J. Naughton

“Five Women. Five Secrets. One Missing Husband.”

Originally published in 2020, The Mothers by Sarah J. Naughton follows five women who meet at their NCT group. But the only thing they have in common is that they’re all pregnant. Three years later, they are all good friends. Aren’t they? Now the police have come knocking. Someone knows something. And the trouble with secrets is that someone always tells.

Rating:

The Mothers is an entertaining and fast-paced thriller with strong characters and complex relationships.

There were a lot of character names to get used to at first which did require me to make some notes, but I soon got the hang of things and began to get a clear picture of these women’s unique personalities and the intricacies of their relationships.

It’s an easy book to binge read as you’ll be eager to find out what’s going on. But what really makes this book great is the final twist, as everything finally slots together. It’s a great ending, making this a book that I’m definitely going to remember.
