“Enjoy the flight.”
Falling by TJ Newman is set on board a flight to New York. There are one hundred and forty-four passengers on board, but what they don’t know is that the pilot’s family was kidnapped thirty minutes before the flight. For his family to live, everyone on the plane must die. The only way the family will survive is if the pilot follows his orders and crashes the plane.

I was really looking forward to reading this book after seeing so many people rave about it being one of the best thrillers of this year. Unfortunately, I did not get on with it.
I think this was a case of the audiobook ruining the experience for me, as I did not get on with any of the characters. This really prevented me from investing in the story, as I ended up finding the whole story quite dull because of my personal disconnect. And just the character name of Big Daddy gave me a shudder every time it was said.
The pace certainly picks up in the second half, and you can tell that the author has experience of being a flight attendant as she details the story in the air brilliantly. There’s definitely a lot of good qualities to this book, but it just wasn’t for me.
