For obvious reasons, I haven’t seen many films this year. But let’s stick with the tradition of sharing my annual stats.
This year, I watched 441 films (48 released this year and 290 for the first time). My most watched directors were Chris Columbus and Kenneth Branagh and my most watched actors were Samuel L. Jackson and Judi Dench. My most watched films were Hamilton and Frozen 2.
And here are my top 10 films of 2020 so far:
Not only is it the end of the year, but it’s also the end of a decade, so this is the first time that I’ve ever been able to do this properly as it was in 2010 that I started reviewing films.
So, you might have seen a hundred of these lists already, but here is “My Top 20 Films Of The Decade”, going by UK release dates from 2010-2019.
This was a mammoth task but I feel like I’m finally happy with how this list has turned out. I’ve tried to keep it varied, including a few of my personal favourites whilst also taking into account better quality films over some that I was more entertained by. I’ve also tried to keep the genres varied by only included one superhero film and ensuring that I’ve included a foreign film and an animated film.
However, you will have to excuse the fact that four musicals have somehow slipped into this list, although it very easily could have been five so I do feel like I’ve compromised a little…
For me, these are the films that have defined this decade and all deserve to be watched if you haven’t seen any of them already. Keep reading to see why I have chosen these films and for a link to my reviews of them.
This year, I just managed to watch 500 films (36 released this year and 262 for the first time). My most watched director was John Lasseter and my most watched actors were Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine.
My most watched films were The Jungle Book, The Lion King, and Lady and The Tramp, even though I didn’t include the times I had to watch them more than once in a single day (since my toddler discovered his love for Disney!).

It’s time for my top films of 2016, and this year it wasn’t all about the superhero blockbusters for a change (except for one of them!). From Japanese anime that isn’t from Studio Ghibli to a Japanese anime that was announced to be Studio Ghibli’s last, to Disney and more Disney and even a Disney classic adaptation, 2016 was definitely an accomplished year for animation. And let’s not forget about those incredible book adaptations, which make up nearly half of my top 20. It certainly was an impressive year!

2015 had a bit of everything, and it could have easily been split down the middle with both exceptional but also disappointing films. From instalments in some of the biggest franchises around including Star Wars, The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner, to Disney and Pixar classics, Studio Ghibli delights, and superhero blockbusters at their best.

With the end of 2014 in sight, it’s time to look back on the best of this year. It’s been a great year for film franchises, superheroes, reboots, and lego men. With releases from some of the best, including Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, and Hayao Miyazaki, there’s been something for everyone with a thrilling murder mystery, an animation about aircraft engineering, a space adventure spanning the galaxies, a dark drama about sex addiction, and a true-life story about HIV.

It’s that time of year again, so here are my top 10 films of 2013.
This year I have watched more films than I ever have in a year before, reaching a total of 771 films (82 released that year and 665 for the first time). My most watched directors were Joel and Ethan Coen and my most watched actors were Robert De Niro and John Goodman.

It’s that time of year again, so here are my top 10 films of 2012.
I think it’s fair to say that it’s been a very hit and miss year for film this year with some exceptional releases scattered throughout 2012, but with some completely disappointing films filling in the months between (Anything involving Taylor Kitsch, I’m looking at you!). From the end of trilogies (The Dark Knight Rises) to the start of new ones (The Hunger Games, The Amazing Spider-Man), to the combination of many film characters into one big blockbuster (Avengers Assemble) and to some brilliant novel adaptations (On The Road, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower), we’ve certainly had it all. Read below to see what I thought of the year in film, and feel free to let me know what you thought about the year too.

There were many great films released on the big screen this year, from the origins of the X-Men to nameless drivers. Of course, there were many films that I didn’t get to see, but as I’ve started to write about film more over this past year, I have slowly been catching up. For the UK, as well, we’re still waiting for some highly acclaimed films, such as Shame, to be released over on these shores, but these will have to be included in next year’s list as I am going by UK dates.
