Originally published in 2007, Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman follows 17-year-old Elio at his family’s cliff-side mansion on the Italian Riviera, who develops a relationship with a summer guest. Unprepared for the consequences of their attraction, at first each feigns indifference. But during the restless summer weeks that follow, their passion intensifies as they test the charged ground between them.

What grows from the depths of their spirits is an experience that marks them for a lifetime. For what the two discover on the Riviera and during a sultry evening in Rome is the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

Weekly Sky Cinema Premieres (25th June – 1st July)

Since I don’t get to the cinema to see new releases that often anymore, this is my new weekly feature reviewing the latest releases on Sky Cinema Premiere (and in turn, Now TV). I will write a short review and rating for each of the films that I have watched and then give you the details for the ones that I didn’t get a chance to see.

Film Review: Call Me By Your Name

Directed by Luca Guadagnino and based on André Aciman‘s 2007 novel of the same name, Call Me By Your Name is set in 1980s Italy where a romance blossoms between a seventeen-year-old student (Timothée Chalamet) and the older man (Armie Hammer) hired as his father’s research assistant.

The film is the final installment in Guadagnino’s Desire trilogy after I Am Love (2009) and A Bigger Splash (2015).
