TV Review: The Third Day (Sky Atlantic) – Miniseries

Created by Felix Barrett and Dennis Kelly and aired on Sky Atlantic in September 2020, The Third Day follows the individual journeys of a man and woman who arrive on a mysterious island off the English coast at different times, where they encounter a group of islanders set on preserving their traditions at any cost. Sam (Jude Law) arrives in the “Summer” after being mysteriously drawn to the island, and Helen (Naomie Harris) arrives in the “Winter” seeking answers.

TV Review: Appropriate Adult (ITV) – Miniseries

Originally aired on ITV in 2011, Appropriate Adult is a two-part miniseries that focuses on the way in which the Gloucester serial killers Fred (Dominic West) and Rosemary West (Monica Dolan) were brought to justice in 1994. During his time under police investigation, Fred was granted an appropriate adult, which role was given to housewife Janet Leach (Emily Watson). When she first attends a police interview with Fred, he confesses to killing his daughter. He then privately tells Janet that there were more victims, but appropriate adults cannot share conversations. Janet is given the opportunity to leave the case due to its distressing nature, but she resolves to continue in hopes of finding Fred and Rose’s other victims.

TV Series: Chernobyl (Sky Atlantic) – Miniseries

Chernobyl is a five-part historical miniseries which was aired on Sky Atlantic in May 2019. Created and written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck, the HBO series documents the events around the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of April 1986 and the unprecedented cleanup efforts that followed. Largely focusing on the memories of Pripyat locals, as told by Svetlana Alexievich in her book, Voices from Chernobyl, the series reveals how and why one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history happened, as well as the Soviet cover-up that followed.

The Christmas season is over, and 2012 is now well in play. New War Horse Featurette Highlights All British Cast

A new featurette for Steven Spielberg‘s upcoming war-time drama, War Horse, has been released this week, focusing on the film’s British cast including Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, David Thewlis, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

War Horse follows a young boy, Albert, played by Jeremy Irvine (TV’s Life Bites), and his horse, Joey. Despite being too young to enlist in to the cavalry, Albert heads to France when his horse is sold and sent into the trenches of War. War Horse is a compelling tale of their bond, and is Spielberg’s seventh film set in the World War era.

The Latest Trailer for ‘War Horse’ Gallops Onto Our Screens

This week sees the release of the first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s war-time drama, War Horse, which follows the story a young boy, Albert, played by Jeremy Irvine (TV’s Life Bites), and his horse, Joey. Despite being too young to enlist in to the cavalry, Albert heads to France when his horse is sold and sent into the trenches of War. War Horse is a compelling tale of their bond, and Spielberg’s seventh film set in the World War era.

The film is based on both a children’s novel of the same name, written by Michael Morpurgo and first publishes in the UK in 1982, and also on the 2007 stage adaptation.
