The Oscars 2016 – Nominations & Predictions

With the 88th Academy Awards (or The Oscars 2016) airing later this evening, here’s a list of the nominations alongside my predictions and hopes for the ceremony, which I will update later with the winners of this year’s awards.

Leading the nominations this year is The Revenant with nominations, and Mad Max: Fury Road with 10. Hosted by Chris Rock, The Oscars will be broadcast live this evening on the Sky Movies Oscars Channel (Channel 304), with Red Carpet coverage and live previews from 11.30pm, followed by the awards ceremony at 1.30am.

The Golden Globes Awards 2014 – Nominations, Predictions & Winners

With 2013 well underway, the 70th annual Golden Globes Awards are set to air in the US later today (or at 1am tonight for those of us in the UK). Hosted by Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), taking over from the somewhat controversial comedian Ricky Gervais who has hosted the awards for the past three years, here’s a list of the nominations, my predictions and hopes for the ceremony, and the winners of this year’s awards.

Drum Roll Please… Cannes Festival 2012 Line-Up Announced

It’s that time of year again. The Cannes Film Festival has announced the line-up for its 2012 event at a press conference in Paris this morning.

Among the list are some of this year’s biggest names including Terrence Malick and David Cronenberg, as well as a number of previous festival favourites such as Michael Haneke, Ken Loach, Cristian Mungiu, Alain Resnais, Carlos Reygadas, Matteo Garrone, Jacques Audiard and Abbas Kiarostami.

DGA To Announce Outstanding Directorial Achievement Winner Tonight

The winner of the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2011 will be released tonight at their 64th Annual DGA Awards Dinner at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland.

“The directors nominated this year for the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film Award have each demonstrated an inspired command of the medium. The fact that their prodigious talents have been recognized by their peers is the highest honor a director can achieve,” said DGA President Taylor Hackford. “I offer my most sincere congratulations to each of the nominees.”

The PGA Awards Nominations Are Here

The Producers Guild of America has announced the nominees for their 2012 film and TV awards.

The PGA nominees include the obvious choices such as The Artist, The Descendants, and Hugo, but also some films that have not often been mentioned in the build-up to the Oscars, including Moneyball, The Help, The Ides of March. Among the TV nominees, as well, are 30 Rock, Modern Family, Game of Thrones, and Mad Men.

The London Film Critics Nominations Are Here

The London Film Critics’ Circle announced its nominees this morning, with spy thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive coming out on top with 6 nods each. Following with 5 nods was Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation and Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin, and then silent movie The Artist and Steve McQueen’s Shame each had 4 mentions.

New Producer for The Oscars and Billy Crystal To Host

It’s been a hectic few days for the for The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as the 84th Academy Awards lost producer Brett Ratner and host Eddie Murphy all within 24 hours.

Confirmation of Ratner’s replacement is here, however, and conversations of who should stand in as host have been taking place all over the internet, with The Muppets taking lead as front-runners for the spot before Billy Crystal was confirmed as host, which he revealed on Twitter today.
