TV Series: Chernobyl (Sky Atlantic) – Miniseries

Chernobyl is a five-part historical miniseries which was aired on Sky Atlantic in May 2019. Created and written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck, the HBO series documents the events around the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of April 1986 and the unprecedented cleanup efforts that followed. Largely focusing on the memories of Pripyat locals, as told by Svetlana Alexievich in her book, Voices from Chernobyl, the series reveals how and why one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history happened, as well as the Soviet cover-up that followed.

Brits At The Box Office: Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Brown Findlay, Tilda Swinton & More!

The Christmas season is over, and 2012 is now well in play. This weekend there are a couple of great films being released too, including action thriller Contraband and coming-of-age drama Albatross, as well as a few others that are expanding their release to more theaters. Film Review: Sherlock Holmes – A Game of Shadows

Directed by Guy Ritchie, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is the sequel to the 2009 film based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional detective character.

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson as they begin investigating a series of seemingly unrelated terrorist attacks. Shortly after Watson’s wedding with Mary (Kelly Reilly), Sherlock realises that the bombings around Europe are part of a plan to foment war between France and Germany. With the help of Sherlock’s brother Mycroft (Stephen Fry) as well, the duo team up with gypsy woman Madame Simza (Noomi Rapace) to bring down the evil Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris), who, to make matters even more tense, has poisoned Sherlock’s ex-wife Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams).

Featurette for ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’

This week Warner Bros. have released a featurette for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows which includes new footage and some commentary from British director Guy Ritchie and actors Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr.

Based on the character created by Scottish author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887, Robert Downey Jr takes the lead as Sherlock Holmes with Jude Law by his side as Dr Watson. This latest instalment reunites the detective pair who team up with mysterious gypsy Sim, played by Noomi Rapace (The Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) to bring down the evil Professor Moriarty, played by Jared Harris (Mad Men).
