TV Review: Ozark (Netflix) – Season One

Created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams for Netflix, the first season of Ozark follows financial advisor Marty (Jason Bateman), his wife Wendy (Laura Linney), and their children, who are forced to relocate from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Lake of the Ozarks after a money-laundering scheme for a Mexican drug cartel goes wrong. To make amends, Marty proposes to set up a bigger laundering operation, but they soon become entangled with local criminals and the Kansas City Mafia.

TV Review: The Outsider (Sky Atlantic) – Season One

Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, The Outsider follows a group of investigators who are confounded over an unspeakable crime that’s been committed, when the gruesome murder of a boy in the Georgia woods leads them to a mysterious force surrounding the case.

Film Review: Friends With Benefits

Directed by Will Gluck, Friends With Benefits follows two friends, art director Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and head-hunter Jamie (Mila Kunis), who, unable to maintain relationships and deal with the emotional stress that they entail, decide to add sex to their friendship, promising that they won’t let it become more than just a sexual release.

Of course, nothing is that easy and the obvious complications arise, concluding in the two realising their true feelings for each other. That much we can guess, but fortunately the film avoids being a cliché in many ways and is a unique rom-com that even your boyfriend will like.
