DVD Review: Kick-Ass 2

Written and directed by Jeff Wadlow and based on two of Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr‘s comic books, Kick-Ass 2 picks up with self-made high school superhero Dave a.k.a. Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) after his heroic antics from the first film have inspired a citywide wave of masked vigilantes. Now, Kick-Ass face a formidable challenge brought on by the vengeful Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who has transformed himself into the world’s first super villain, The Mother Fucker, determined to avenge the death of his late father, who previously perished at the hands of Kick-Ass and Hit Girl. But as Mindy (Chloë Grace Moretz) hangs up her Hit Girl uniform and navigates the treacherous high-school social scene, Kick-Ass is forced to patrol the streets with Justice Forever, a fearless group of urban watchdogs fronted by former mob thug Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey).

Jim Carrey May Yet Kick-Ass

Universal Pictures are attempting to court Jim Carrey for Never Back Down director Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass sequel, it has been announced this week.

A self-professed fan of Matthew Vaughn‘s original, who will be writing the script for this sequel, Carey would play the part of Colonel Stars, a military-themed superhero who founds the super-team Justice Forever.

Farrelly Brothers To Make ‘Dumb and Dumber 2’

Farrelly brothers Peter and Bobby are finally moving onto a project that they have long wanted to do: a second instalment for the 1994 hit comedy, Dumb and Dumber. With the intention to bring back Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, Sean Anders and John Morris (Sex Drive) have been hired to start writing the script to bring back this senseless yet lovable duo.

Carrey began giving hints for a sequel whilst promoting his latest film Mr. Popper’s Penguins, but this is the first confirmation we have had with the Farrelly brothers focusing on The Three Stooges, which is set to be released in the US on 4th April, 2012. Sean Anders and John Morris have also been busy co-directed the Adam Sandler comedy, I Hate You Dad, which will be released in the UK on 7th September, 2012.
