DVD Review: Anna Karenina

Directed by Joe Wright and the twelfth adaptation of Leo Tolstoy‘s 1877 novel of the same name in total, Anna Karenina is set in late-19th-century Russia and follows socialite Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) who, married to the passionless government official Alexei (Jude Law), journeys to Moscow to visit her philandering brother Oblonsky (Matthew Macfadyen) to help save his marriage to Dolly (Kelly Macdonald). Exploring the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, the film follows Anna’s affair with the affluent Count Vronsky (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), as well as the relationship between Oblonsky’s best friend Levin (Domhnall Gleeson) and Dolly’s younger sister Kitty (Alicia Vikander).

Film Review: Brave

Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman and produced by Pixar, Brave follows Merida (Kelly Macdonald), the skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), who is determined to carve her own path in life. As she defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land, her actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom. When she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

New TV Spot For Pixar’s ‘Brave’ With Music By Scottish Singer Julie Fowlis

With a new poster and trailer for Pixar’s upcoming 3D adventure, Brave, earlier this week, the film now has a new TV spot, which premiered at this week’s Oscars.

Featuring a beautiful song by Scottish singer Julie Fowlis, named Tha Mo Ghaol Air Aird A’ Chuainv which translates from Gàidhlig as My Love is on The High Seas, the new TV spot shows a different side to the film from what we have already seen in the film’s trailers and clips. Focusing even more on the film’s Scottish heritage, the new clip also highlights the film’s stunning animation with close-ups of the characters and detailed scenery.

‘The Decoy Bride’ Starring David Tennant Gets A US Release

Tennant plays a writer who is about to marry one of the most famous movie stars around, Lara Tyler, played by Alice Eve.

Earlier this week we gave you 7 new images for Pixar’s first fairy tale computer-animation, Brave. Today we have the first full-length trailer for the 3D fantasy adventure which follows the epic battles of Princess Merida in ancient Scotland.
