Film Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Directed once again by James Gunn, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 sees the return of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos and must fight to keep their newfound family together. Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, old foes become new allies as the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage is revealed when they meet his father, Ego (Kurt Russell).

Film Review: The Hateful Eight

Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, serving as his eighth feature film, The Hateful Eight opens with a stagecoach hurtling through a wintry Wyoming landscape. Onboard are the “The Hangman” John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive “The Prisoner” Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), who are heading towards the town of Red Rock to bring Domergue to justice.

On their way they encounter two strangers, “The Bounty Hunter” Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson) and “The Sheriff” Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), and must seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass, on account of a terrible storm. Here, the passengers meet four strangers, “The Mexican” Bob (Demi├ín Bichir), “The Little Man” Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), “The Cow Puncher” Joe Gage (Michael Madsen), and “The Confederate” General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern). As the storm grows bigger, the eight travellers come to learn that they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

Film Review: Furious 7

The seventh installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise and directed by James Wan, Furious 7 continues the unstoppable franchise as the crew have returned to the United States to live normal lives. That it is until Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), a rogue special forces assassin seeking to avenge his comatose younger brother, puts them in danger once again, as he seeks revenge against the franchises best – Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), and Tej (Ludacris). To get to Deckard, Toretto must first do a favour for Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell), and find hacker Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel).
