TV Review: Ballers (Sky Comedy) – Season Five

The fifth and final season of Ballers aired in February 2020 and saw Spencer Strasmore (Dwayne Johnson), a retired NFL player turned financial manager of other NFL players, shaken out of retirement after receiving an offer he can’t refuse. Meanwhile, Joe (Rob Corddry) and Lance (Russell Brand) take a gamble on the future of Sports X, as Ricky (John David Washington) lands himself in hot water with Charles (Omar Benson Miller).

New Trailer and Poster for ‘Rock of Ages’

New Line Cinema has released the debuting trailer and poster for Hairspray director Adam Shankman‘s new musical adaptation, Rock of Ages, this week.

The film tells the story of small town girl Sherrie (Julianne Hough) and city boy Drew (Diego Boneta) who go to Hollywood and meet on the Sunset Strip whilst trying to pursue heir dreams in the big city. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the classic hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.

It was a busy day for Russell Brand yesterday. First Fox picked up an animated comedy co-created and voiced by the British comedian, and then cable sibling FX announced that Brand had signed a deal for an unscripted late-night series.

Russell Brand To Produce and Star In ‘The President Stole My Girlfriend’

Comedian Russell Brand will produce and star in a new “political” comedy, The President Stole My Girlfriend, reported THR this week.

Whilst the exact plot of The President Stole My Girlfriend is unknown, Brand commented to THR that, “In this movie, the president steals the girlfriend of a sexy hippie—me, obviously. It was inspired by the night I naively invited [Warner Bros. president] Jeff Robinov for dinner.”

Get Him To The Greek is a spin-off to 2008’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall, both directed by Nicholas Stoller and written by Stoller and Jason Segel. GHTTG is a hilarious comedy following Aaron Green (Jonah Hill), playing a completely new character a few years later when he is somehow working in the music industry. He receives the almost impossible mission of escorting British rock god Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to LA’s Greek Theatre for the first stop on his tour.
