DVD Review: Lawless

An adaptation of Matt Bondurant‘s 2008 novel The Wettest County in the World and directed by John Hillcoat, Lawless follows these three brothers – Forrest (Tom Hardy), Jack (Shia LaBeouf) and Howard (Jason Clarke) – who, in a Prohibition-era Franklin County, Virginia, find their bootlegging business under threat by a new deputy (Guy Pearce) and other authorities who want a cut of their profits.

Christian Slater Joins ‘Nymphomaniac’

There has been many things said about Lars Von Trier’s upcoming and inevitably erotic drama, Nymphomaniac, over the past couple of months, the latest writing on the wall being that Christian Slater has joined the cast.

Slater, best known for his role in the thriller/romance True Romance, will be playing the role of the main character’s father, the lead being Von Trier regular Charlotte Gainsbourg as the film is split into eight flashbacks, recounting her life and sexual exploits as a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac from her youth through to age 50.

The first image of Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Jason Clarke as the three brothers in John Hillcoat‘s gangster drama Lawless have been released this week, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

Formerly known as The Wettest County, and not to be confused with Terrence Mallick’s upcoming previously titled Lawless, the film is an adaptation of the 2008 historical novel The Wettest County in the World written by Matt Bondurant. With screenplay by Nick Cave, the film follows these three brothers who find their bootlegging business under threat in a Prohibition-era Franklin County, Virginia.

Films To Look Forward To In 2011

With 2010 being a great year for film with the likes of Toy Story 3, Inception and the first installment of the final Harry Potter film, 2011 looks set to top it with many anticipated sequels.

However, 2011 could also be a bad year for film with many unneeded additions to the barely successful films of previous years; films with the only purpose of being part of this new, and may I say overhyped, trend of 3D technology
