Film Review: Mission Impossible 6 – Fallout

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and the sixth instalment in the Mission: Impossible film series, Mission: Impossible – Fallout sees Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar ally Elsa (Rebecca Ferguson) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. With the help of CIA’s August Walker (Henry Cavill), the team find themselves faced with Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) once again, two years after his capture, as the remnants of The Syndicate reorganise as a rogue terrorist group called the Apostles.

Film Review: Star Wars – Episode VII – The Force Awakens

Set 30 years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire in Return of the Jedi (1983), and the seventh installment in the main Star Wars film series, Star Wars – Episode VII: The Force Awakens, directed by J. J. Abrams, sees a new threat rise from the ashes. Led by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), The First Order are attempting to rule the galaxy, but the Resistance is still strong. Newcomers Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) join the fight with the Resistance, led by veterans of the Rebel Alliance, as they find out the truth about the Jedi force that they thought were only myths.

Film Review: Mission Impossible 5 – Rogue Nation

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible series, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation find the IMF disbanded and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold. On the run from the CIA, Ethan must try to prove the existence of a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate, an International rogue organization as highly skilled as the IMF, headed up by the ruthless Solomon Lane (Sean Harris). Hell-bent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks, Ethan gathers his team – William (Jeremy Renner), Benji (Simon Pegg), and Luther (Ving Rhames) – and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.

DVD Review: The World’s End

The final instalment to Edgar Wright‘s Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End has been one of the most highly anticipated comedies of this year. Focusing on five childhood friends – Gary King (Simon Pegg), Andy (Nick Frost), Oliver (Martin Freeman), Steven (Paddy Considine), and Peter (Eddie Marsan) – the film is centred on their reunion when they attempt to top their epic pub crawl from 20 years earlier. Hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again, Gary drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realise the real struggle is for the future, not just for theirs, but for humankind’s, as they unwittingly become humankind’s only hope for survival.

Tweeting earlier this month, Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg are finally “hard at work” on their latest project, The World’s End, the third and final film in their Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.

The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, which reference to the Cornetto ice cream flavors featured in all of the films, is a series of films directed by Wright, written by Wright and Pegg, and starring Pegg and Nick Frost.

This week has seen the overall box office suffer its worst weekend since 2008, but one British movie has enjoyed robust numbers whilst another two are continuing their successful theatrical runs. Plans for ‘Tintin 2’ Already In Motion

Even though The Adventures of Tintin is still yet to be released in the US, the film’s sequel is already underway with British screenwriter Anthony Horowitz already at work on the script.

The Tintin films, based on a series of comic books created by Belgian artist Hergé, were always pitched and planned as a trilogy that would begin under Steven Spielberg’s direction and continue with Peter Jackson taking the directorial reins.

The Adventure Begins With a New Trailer for Tintin

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is the first instalment in a planned trilogy of computer-animated motion-capture adaptations of George Remi’s series of comic strips. When Tintin and his friends discover directions to a sunken ship they set off on their first adventure, a treasure hunt.

MSN have released an exclusive second trailer for the film this week, only a day after releasing the trailer for another of Spielberg’s film, War Horse.

The script is based on three of the Tintin stories – The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure, with screenplay written by Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim), Joe Cornish (Attack The Block), and Steven Moffat (TV’s Sherlock & Doctor Who).
