Channel 4 has announced this week that E4’s British teen drama series Skins will bow out with one final series, where famous Skins characters from all six series will star in ‘celebratory’ reappearances.

“Channel 4 today confirmed that next year’s series of E4’s teen drama Skins will be its last,” the broadcaster commented earlier this week. The series has now been recommissioned for a special seventh run, the final in the series, which will be made of three films broken into six parts.

First Trailer for Season 6 of British Series ‘Skins’

(Written for BritScene)

The new year means a new year of college for the cast of British teen-drama, Skins, with the release of the first trailer for the series’ sixth season.

Skins, created by father and son television writers Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, first aired in the UK in January 2007. The series portrays the lives of a group of teenagers living in Bristol, aged 16-18, during their two years in sixth form. Using comic exaggerations, the film deals with the many issues that teenagers are faced with such as family problems, sexuality, drugs, teen pregnancy, eating disorders and relationships.

TV Review: Skins Series Five Back With A High?

The new series of Skins hit E4 last night, and I don’t have much to complain about so they must be doing something right. A cheerier cast with more realistic relationships and less insane parents – with the exception of a gun being flashed around, it was heading in the ways of the original series, something we all had hoped for.

Meet the new cast: Franky, Mini, Nick, Grace, Matty, Rich, Alo, and Liv.

The New Year Brings New Series

Not only does 2011 look set for great films, but January also brings many new series to some of our favourite TV programs, and some brand new ones altogether.

The American teen series, 90210, started its third series at the beginning of the month on E4. I’d missed the end of Series 2, but it seems that all that happened is a swap of girlfriends and boyfriends. The episode kicked off with an earthquake at Beverly Hills, “signifying both emotional and physical trauma everyone is going through.” What to expect from the series? Naomi’s breakdown, Liam and Annie getting together, Teddy’s darker side, and the endless conflicts between couples that we’ve seen many times before. Nothing new here; a bunch of rich, gorgeous ‘teenagers’ with their clichéd problems, yet I still enjoy to watch it.

Skins US “Remake”

The thought of an American version of Skins was bad enough, but now we’re faced with something much worse – a complete remake. With the change of a few names and a homosexual boy being swapped for a lesbian, the US Skins is exactly the same as the UK’s first series.

You may have cringed at this already, but here it is in all its disappointment, the trailer for the US series of Skins:

Are The Characters of “Skins” Realistic & Do They Influence Teenagers’ Lives?

Skins is a British ‘dramedy’ portraying the lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol. The TV programme first aired on 25th January 2007 on E4; a channel renowned for its diverse and controversial programming. The programme has had four series so far, with a new cast for the last two series, and two more series currently in production. It focuses on a group of friends, aged 16-18, during their two years in sixth form and deals with the situations that teenagers are faced with, using comic exaggerations of characters to give a comedy edge. The programme deals with issues such as family problems, sexuality, drugs, death, teen pregnancy, mental illness, eating disorders and relationships.

TV Review: The End of Skins Series Four

Skins Series 4 has finally ended and I can honestly say that I have never been more disappointed in the series than with these final few episodes. Full of suicide, mental illnesses, and murder, what went so wrong? I didn’t enjoy the first few episodes of the series but I carried on watching in hope of some improvement. But the series became more depressing as it went on, ending with murder and violence and with the death of a popular character.
