Film Review: Mission Impossible 6 – Fallout

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and the sixth instalment in the Mission: Impossible film series, Mission: Impossible – Fallout sees Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar ally Elsa (Rebecca Ferguson) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. With the help of CIA’s August Walker (Henry Cavill), the team find themselves faced with Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) once again, two years after his capture, as the remnants of The Syndicate reorganise as a rogue terrorist group called the Apostles.

Film Review: Mission Impossible 5 – Rogue Nation

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible series, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation find the IMF disbanded and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold. On the run from the CIA, Ethan must try to prove the existence of a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate, an International rogue organization as highly skilled as the IMF, headed up by the ruthless Solomon Lane (Sean Harris). Hell-bent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks, Ethan gathers his team – William (Jeremy Renner), Benji (Simon Pegg), and Luther (Ving Rhames) – and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.

Film Review: Edge of Tomorrow

Directed by Doug Liman and adapted from the Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, Edge of Tomorrow is set in a near future where Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is forced to fight in a war with an unbeatable alien race which has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault. Dying within minutes of battle, a special alien power is transferred over to Cage as he inexplicably finds himself caught in a time loop, meaning that he must face the same brutal combat scenarios over and over again, fighting and dying, again and again, only to wake up on the same morning every time that he is killed. But the more he dies, the more Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, and with the help of warrior Sergeant Rita Vratask (Emily Blunt), his union and training slowly but surely gets him closer and closer to defeating the enemy.

DVD Review: Oblivion

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Oblivion is set in 2077 on a future, evacuated Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, where veteran and security repairmen Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is assigned to extract Earth’s remaining resources. With his mission almost complete, Jack is set to join the remaining survivors on a lunar colony in a matter of weeks, but his soaring existence is brought crashing down after he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Drawn to Jack through a connection that transcends logic, her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he thought he knew.

New Trailer and Poster for ‘Rock of Ages’

New Line Cinema has released the debuting trailer and poster for Hairspray director Adam Shankman‘s new musical adaptation, Rock of Ages, this week.

The film tells the story of small town girl Sherrie (Julianne Hough) and city boy Drew (Diego Boneta) who go to Hollywood and meet on the Sunset Strip whilst trying to pursue heir dreams in the big city. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the classic hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.
