Directed by Simon Curtis and based on two books by Colin Clark, My Week With Marilyn depicts the making of the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl, which starred Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) and Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh). During this time, 23-year-old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant and documented the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe. Desperate to get away from her retinue of Hollywood hangers-on and the pressures of work, Colin escorts Marilyn around and introduces her to some of the pleasures of British life.
Rating: 
This is now one of my favourite films; a brilliant story revealing so much about Marilyn’s true self, revealing many of her insecurities and vulnerabilities as we get to see a side to her the camera didn’t capture. It’s a truly beautiful story that is captured perfectly, set over an idyllic weekend in the charming British countryside which suits the nature of the story incredibly well.

Michelle Williams plays the role superbly and absolutely shines as the iconic actress, and her relationship with Colin is performed beautifully, unmasking an honest and engaging emotional friendship between the two. Scenes of Williams and Redmayne are constantly mesmerising and the cinematography is stunning throughout. I just love everything about this film.
Whilst this isn’t a particularly sad film, I find myself tearing up by the end of it every time, so bravo Simon Curtis.
